May 24 - 26, 2001

Digital is not Analog.01
is the second edition of an international meeting on net.art and net culture that has taken place at the contemporary art center Salara in Bologna, Italy, on May 24th to 26th, 2001.

The festival turned out to be an important occasion for the Italyn public to come into direct contact and understand artistic projects that are born on the Internet and within the Net cultural domain. Indeed, net art, hacktivism and media hacking do not simply express a radically original approach to the Web, but above all they represent a kind of general experimentation on the information society as a whole.

The festival formula allows to mix spectacular moments with presentation of projects, mostly directly by the authors themselves, and in both cases the involvement of public has been fertile of discussion. Furthermore, the artists themselves, in that early stage of development of the digital art scene, have seemed to benefit from a close encounters with other artists.
