RSG - Carnivore

Alex Galloway is an artist and computer programmer. From 1998 to 2001 he's been content editor for Rhizome.org, one of the most relevant on line platforms for Internet arts and cultures, and co-produced Every Image and StarryNight, two projects of alternative visualization of Internet interface and on line contents.

As the founding member of the Radical Software Group (RSG), he is the creator of Carnivore, a visual surveillance tool based on a 'packet sniffing' software and inspired by the notorious FBI software of the same name. Some international digital artists contributed to Carnivore, which has been exhibited internationally and won a Golden Nica at Ars Electronica 2002.

Alex Galloway's first book, "PROTOCOL, or, How Control Exists After Decentralization", will be published in 2003 by The MIT Press.
