Walter van der Cruijsen is an artist, an organizer, a curator and a theoretician. He collaborated since the beginning of the 90s to the most innovative and relevant European projects in the field of digitally networked communities, such as The Thing Amsterdam, Next 5 Minutes and Desk.nl. He worked for the ZKM Karlsruhe (Center for the Arts and Media Technologies), where he co-curated the famous "net_condition" exhibition (1999). Together with Vuk Cosic and Luka Frelih, he founded the Ascii Art Ensemble, which gained wide popularity with "Deep Ascii", a full ASCII version of the 70s porn cult-movie "Deep Throat".
