tonne – lilium (klitekture)

this is the first album by multimedia artist tonne aka paul farrington. we already know him from soundtoy, a multimedia release for the french label bip-hop, where he designs a small and a simple program to make music with, while the other artists (as well as tonne himself) create their tracks for it. he not only designes the cover for that release but also the covers for most of bip-hop’s releases. tonne also works with art design, web design, audio/video installations and obviously – music. this album consists of all the aspects in which klitekture are interested. first of all the clicks, the structure, all that in a minimalistic context and contemporary techno production. tonne here is more into minimal than techno, however the structure is still rhythmic. sometimes dubby, sometimes deep, clicks n cuts and sometimes with an irregular break rhythm. the arrangements are clear and the production is full of sounds, glitches, crackles, clicks, all building a pure minimal structure. every detail from this song structure is carefully examined, connecting all tracks into a whole. lilum is a clear evidence of klitekture’s interests, presenting another side of their intention to sound minimalism.
