svartbag - svartbag (rump)

the first releases that i got from rump were mainly electronic. but as it seems they are shifting into another inventive and experimental directions in sound. on this album by copenhagen based trio or sometimes quartet svartbag, they are slowly moving into dark guitar ambient rock sound, obviously inspired by the early german kraut-rock, spacerock, noise and electronic pioneers. the length of the tracks also proves that. in the duration of 10 minutes per track svartbag are trying to generate incredible moods using simple effects and reaching their limits, under the patience of composing classical rock songs. this results into dark minimalistic drone rock, post rock and kraut. from quiet ambient dark and organic flows tracks are evolving within the pulsating bass drones and jazz rhythms, that are again fading into the analog sound of the ambient electronics. in some moments, " svartbag" retains the emotional simplicity of traditional song structures, but also manages radical abstract textures and structures characteristic for kraut and post rock, where tracks morph into spiral forms of static sounds.
