rumpistol – dynamo (rump)

we already know this artist and this label are focusing mostly on electronic approaches in danish music, reviewing most of their releases. after 3 years from rumpistol’s last album in which he was running the label, doing soundtracks and remixes, as well as playing lots of concerts, he is ready to come back with his third release. moving slightly from his post idm approach, but still remaining in melodic territories, on dynamo he is exploring the borderland between abstract electronica and immediate melodic sounds. except synths and drum machines here we can hear more traditional instruments like pianos and strings, which give the album a more lively touch. except his standard gentle, warm and emotional feeling, abstract parts and experiments are also present, mixing many sound territories and making a fresh imaginative blend of old school electronics and contemporary sound. at the very end, this is a rarely pleasant and calm musical experience in the vast ocean of dance music and experimentalism, mixing melancholy, optimism and nostalgia.
