motor - freeze (kuroneko music)

you were able to find out something more about motor and his previous two releases signed for top 40 label from the other reviews here. this is his release for kuroneko music and is somewhat different from what he had to offer with the top 40 ones, as well as the rest of his releases. however only partly... anyway it is a case of experimental music again. the tracks are divided into more experimental and more rhythmical ones. hence freeze starts with ‘extra virgin’ which is a partly rhythmical track with an undefined rhythm and a noisy background. the tracks after that are mostly sinewave, static noise, drone style. ‘p>a(4 install.)’ is a quiet sinewave without many changes except the standard slow vibrating. ‘show room’ continues with its noisier atmosphere over a static hum, to later enter ‘freeze’ and go back to the rhythm in a typical motor misty soothing melody with a very deep amorphous beat. right after this track the album continues the way it started, in the quiet sinewave ambiental sound of ‘/p.a4(v)’. ‘extra virgin(rmx)’ goes on from where the first track stopped. finally, at the end of this pleasant release the closing ‘...to home’ gives a slightly different atmosphere like a combination of the so far present ones. fluttery, nice, peaceful, ambiental atmosphere that only MOTOR can create. an expression closest to some pleasant condition expressed in sound. freeze as well as horse trax is yet again a rhythmical experimental combination, only that in horse trax the blend of experiment, rhythm and the usage of field recordings were at a different level, merged, while here they’re divided into different tracks by style. which in any case isn’t a bad idea, only gives another perspective of the interesting combination of styles and forms with which MOTOR is dealing with in a unique way. indeed a nice album!
