monolake – momentum (monolake/imbalance
computer music)
monolake is one of the geniuses of contemporary electronic music. music which he releases for his label monolake/imbalance computer music, as robert henke or monolake, it’s a thematical ambiental sonic soundscape which lately gains more rythmical dimensions. in the beginning he works together with gerhard behles who is now responsible for work with abelton live software, with which robert henke creates his music as monolake. the combination of influences of the club culture ideology and the sophisticated computer sound design gives the unique combination of sound, which is sublimation of beats, structure and dark melody with noticeable elements of minimal techno, electro and break rhythms, so as, with momentum, the sound to develop into serious deep dance music, with serious dancefloor pretensions. at least half of momentum could get a dacefloor treatment, partly it’s ambiental, and the rest has a serious rhythmical orientation. i’ve felt his orientation in actual dancefloor conditions and live, where everything i previously mentioned had been empirically affirmed. reminiscence, the official single of this album is a rather dark and hard ten minute lasting rhythmic track which indicates categorical techno and it’s image perfectly captures the simple and descriptive cover design. likewise the second single cern gets closer to the dancefloor orientation even though it has a more shattered rhythm. if we observe this album, firstly part by part and later as a whole, it would present a cross section of electronic styles which fusion give the freshest and most contemporary sublimation of new music. |
