rené breitbarth – with a little luck (treibstoff)

rené breitbarth the co-owner of the label for which this album is released: triebstoff recordings, releases his second long play project after last year’s masterpiece ‘solar’. after the 12” releases, his numerous appearances on compilations and already two albums, he stands out as one of the most inventive producers in the duby tech house music scene. with a little luck is a peaceful, slow and relaxing album. it starts off with cooling the plasma, a deep track with a rhythm that sounds like techno, and gets closer to the trance sound. repetitive, slow, dark, but entirely sophisticated. it’s incredible, but the album doesn’t continue in this course. already in the next track (let ‘em in) the dub sound opens the quiet tech house rhythms. a typical triebstoff sound. and the next one (backward traveler) has the same atmosphere, even more dynamic. sir paul with his bass line indicates plaid, while already in silly love songs, the classic tech house rhythms come back upgraded with a stand-out bass line and a melodic pad. in morse moose the dub moments are overtaking again, the base which defines the whole album. duby with intention and funky at moments with a little luck could be defined as calm and simple cologne dub techhouse sound. pretty slow, (around 120bpm) in case it speeds up a little bit, it could fit perfectly into a dancefloor atmosphere, in a deeper set.
