- motivation / superstructure

the cultural initiative nuoc mam BUAM founded in 1996 by 3 citizens of
Graz and afterwards mounted to nuoc mam dirndl´N has dedicated to a
multiculturalism of the world in general, Austria in particular and Graz
in special. Austria as cultural basement [´home´] serves as [ interim ]
starting point of the retrovisionary journey to the world.
therefore the Vietnamese-Austrian sub- und low-culture exchange project
hend'l [ chicken ] goes chim con cut [ quail ] was started in 1997
- Vietnam represents the longing for the strange / other of the satieted
affluent society. multiculturalism also means — at the face — establishin
on the one hand the hidden / covered energy potentials of fringe groups
/ minorities within assembling homogeneous culture groups - the strange
in and next to me , on the other hand intercultural and at the same time
rudimentary cultural phenomena dealing with basic needs and basic
conditions of humans and thus intercultural legible [ that means exchange
of substance, feeling, aso.] since 1997 clash-performances took place
therefore as Vietnamese ´interventions´with regional potentials in Austria.

- in Austria, Vietnam and in between - are another step directing to an
other globalising connection - with regional + critical potentials
[ retrovisionary practice].
multiculturalism
- multiculturalism does not mean contemporary global culture: because of
the increasing mediatiation of the world + the tranfer of public power
from political / ideological to economic capital power [´material force´]
expanding worlwide, the various cultures of the world are getting more
and more similar, striving for a global culture, but not equally formed by
the various vehicles of culture, but unilaterally by the strong economic
countries.
- multiculturalism means the total equality of different cultures in a
small woven mosaic of a variety of cultures; small woven to be able to
have a huge amount of edges and touches, because these transitions
constitute the exciting potential of new understanding of global culture.
culture critique
Austria is part of the imperialistic 1st world - though on the periphery
- this also is a reason for the nuoc mam dirndl´N not dealing in their
sociocultural work with western mainstream culture, which de facto has the
claim to flatter people in other cultures; and those people can be part of
it [ for instance rave- and fashion-imperalism-expansion in all edges of
the world ], if they got the necessary money.
therefore the nuoc mam dirndl´N work with other cultural energies /
potentials - mainly expressing in esthetic practice - in the following
summarised under the name ´sausage-culture´ or ´sausage-globalism´:
- rudimentary - global
basic needs + basic conditions finding their equivalent in every socierty,
but having their spezific cultural expression. [ for instance: eating,
drinking sleeping, surviving, working, loving, hating ]
- original - regionalistic [ retrovisionary ] - minoritary
cultural statements, not yet taken over or commerialised by a mass-culture
industry + corresponding to a identity of social groups - especially the
various social minorities.
- culture-critical / subcultural
cultural statements, consciously or unconsciously working against the
majoritary culture industry + mass culture [ subcultures / political
movements / special sciences ].
